As a volunteer, you can support the Arkansas Cinema Society’s mission to build a film community in Arkansas where film lovers can watch films, share ideas, connect with each other and nurture the new and existing film talent within our state through increased exposure to filmmakers and their art.
ACS depends on volunteers to support a variety of departments and activities, from assisting guests, working as ushers during screening, assisting in set up and clean up, selling tickets, to being a welcome greeter. If you would like to join our growing volunteer group, please fill out the volunteer application.
"As a cinephile, I've wanted to be involved in a film community like ACS for a long time. It's been wonderful to watch ACS grow here in Arkansas. I'm so glad that I've been able to contribute to this amazing organization as a volunteer. From the Premiere event to film screenings throughout the year, I've had lots of opportunities to meet other film lovers while also having some exclusive access behind the scenes. It's been a lot of fun! I'm very much looking forward to helping ACS for years to come!"
"Being a fan of movies, I very much enjoy my time spent volunteering for ACS. I have made new friends and get to meet upcoming filmmakers. By helping present their story in film to the public I feel like I am helping send them off on an adventure of which most people only dream"
"I volunteer for ACS because I want to support the unique artistic community they're working to build here in Arkansas. When I work at ACS screenings, I see how movies bring together people from all different ages and walks of life. It's a bright spot of inspiration in this current political climate. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I get free admission to some of the coolest events in Little Rock!"
In this episode, we chat with filmmaker Lisa Marie Evans about being a self-taught filmmaker and her documentary IN HER WORDS: 20th CENTURY LESBIAN FICTION.
In this episode, we chat with Brett Helms, Levi Smith and Emmanuel Rodriguez from Leaping Dog Films about their shorts "The Tickle Monster" + "That One Little Thing". Both films screened during our 2024 Filmland: Arkansas program and "The Tickle Monster" won the Audience Award for Favorite Professional Short Film. In this episode, we chat with renowned documentarian Larry Foley stops by the show to discuss his latest film, CRIES FROM THE COTTON FIELD, about the journey of Italian immigrants to Lake Village, Arkansas, and on up to Tontitown in the Ozarks. He also discusses his previous works and the elements of storytelling he believes make for a good film.
In our latest episode, RJ Daniel Hanna returns to the show to discuss his new film SUCCUBUS, starring Brendan Bradley, Rachel Cook, Olivia Grace Applegate, Rosanna Arquette and Ron Perlman. SUCCUBUS is about "a new father struggling with fatigue, emotional insecurities, and a failing marriage, who joins a dating app, only to swipe right on what may be an inhuman presence."
The Arkansas Cinema Society is looking for proactive, creative, self-starters that say YES to new ideas, programs, partnerships and projects. We are seeking innovators to develop strategies to grow new sponsorships, partnerships, donations, memberships and awareness of ACS across the entire state and to grow our educational programing.
ACS is in our 4th year which makes for an exciting, fun, and flexible work environment. Our organization has grown fast but we can only grow as big as we can dream and we are looking for more dreamers. We are not a traditional workspace—we want you to think outside the box to find NEW ways to grow our organization. Your work and experience with ACS will be what you create. We are nimble and able to move quickly from dreams to reality!
The following are our needs. They can be met by one remarkable human being, three remarkable human beings, or some combination thereof. Meaning that this could be a single full-time job or a few part-time jobs (we are a flexible young non-profit in a global pandemic so we can do that!).
