Northwest Arkansas filmmaker Jason Pitts marks his feature debut with The Forest Through the Trees. Directed by Pitts, who co-wrote the film with Charlie Brady, The Forest Through the Trees stars James Stokes, Kelly Layne and Scott Doss. Synopsis for the film reads: "Chloe and her step dad, Ken are dealing with the disappearance of Kathy, Chloe's mother and Ken's wife. After a painful year, and with the help of Chloe's friend Ava, they investigate a clue that leads them to a terrifying demon cult."
The film premiered in Fayetteville at the Malco Razorback Theater on January 27th. Cast and crew filled the theater. Pitts was pleased with the reception. He said, “It was amazing! To show the film for the first time to the public in Northwest Arkansas where it was filmed was a surreal experience. The sold out theater was packed with people who had ties to the cast, crew, and locations we shot at, and they loved it!”
The Forest Through the Trees will screen at the Hot Springs Central Cabaret and Nightclub on Saturday, Feb. 22nd. Get tickets here.

At ACS, we believe that if we provide filmmakers an arena to exhibit their talents, and film enthusiasts a healthy diet of quality programming, we can inspire more Arkansans to make and watch more films. By supporting filmmakers, festivals, theaters and young people interested in filmmaking throughout the state, we hope to create statewide network, pool Arkansas’s resources and be an umbrella organization that feeds all things film. We believe a rising tide lifts all boats.
To be a filmmaker, we have to connect to create. A painter needs a brush, paint and a canvas. A director needs a writer, a cinematographer, a sound mixer, production designer, editor, actors, distributors, and an audience. We cannot do it alone. This art form forces one to collaborate and thus, creates jobs. Filmmaking is unique in the arts in this way. It takes an army.
