Jason Owen

Founder & CEO, The Sandbox

Jason Owen is a visionary and trailblazer in the entertainment industry, serving as a keystone between Hollywood and Nashville. As the founder and CEO of The Sandbox; a multi-platform, talent-first entertainment company, Owen is responsible for shepherding the careers of generation-defining artists and creating art and content across music, television, film, theater, and live entertainment.  

A former Variety Manager of the Year and Billboard Executive of the Year, Jason represents a powerhouse roster of multi-platinum, Oscar®, Grammy®, CMA®, ACM®, and Billboard Award-winning artists, including Billie Eilish, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, FINNEAS, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, Little Big Town, Kate Hudson, as well as legacy clients including the estates of Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Loretta Lynn and Roy Orbison, among others.  

Jason’s creative reach extends to producing as well. He is an Emmy® Award-winning and Tony® Award-nominated producer whose work spans platforms and genres. Credited for his work on high-level programs, Owen has been an executive producer on specials, documentaries, and original programming for ABC, NBC, SHOWTIME, CMT and AMAZON. Currently, Owen is a producer alongside Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping/Chernin Entertainment on a new Netflix mystery thriller film, “Heartland”, starring Jessica Chastain. Recently, he also earned a Grammy® nomination for Best Music in Film for “JUNE”, the critically acclaimed Paramount+ biopic about June Carter Cash.  Some of his other credits include Apple TV+’s “MY KIND OF COUNTRY” with Reese Witherspoon/Hello Sunshine, as well as the hit Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical Shucked, currently on national tour and in the West End.

Prior to launching The Sandbox, he also served as SVP of Artist Development and Marketing for Universal Music Group Nashville and Senior Director of Marketing and Talent Relations at Columbia TriStar Television.

With a singular instinct for talent and a bold vision for what comes next, Jason continues to chart new territory—elevating artists, building iconic brands, and telling stories that resonate across generations.
