When Beth’s son Evan James was diagnosed with Autism in the early 90s, treatment options were limited. Doctors offered no practical advice for daily living and advised Beth to limit his social interactions. Rejecting these notions, Beth sets out to provide her son with a life filled with purpose and friendship. This heartfelt film is a sweet testament to the power of love and community by following a determined mom advocating for her son.
Filmmaker Alexander Jeffery was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas.
In 2014, he helped start the El Dorado Film Festival. Soon after, his short film, The Bespoke Tailoring of Mister Bellamy, won the 2015 Louisiana Film Prize and went on to receive other accolades on the film festival circuit. MTV called it "an acutely relevant, achingly human film."
Following the success of "Bespoke," he co-founded the company Bespoke Works LLC with his long-time collaborator, Paul Petersen. In 2019, they made their first feature film in Italy, A Chance Encounter (formerly known as Molto Bella), released theatrically and on-demand by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Molto Bella won an audience choice award at the Heartland International Film Festival.
Like his grandfather, he wishes to be a lifelong student of the world.
