The 9th annual Kaleidoscope LGBTQ+ Film Festival has a new location at The Studio Theater, located at 320 W. 7th Street in Little Rock! Kaleidoscope celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and filmmakers by presenting poignant and thought-provoking films documenting LGBTQ+ lives truthfully and with respect. The festival exhibits the power of film to transform lives and opinions of those both inside and outside the LGBTQ+ community through the universal medium of the cinema. In addition to film screenings, this year’s festival will feature panel discussions, workshops, and evening parties and events. It will take place from August 10th-13th.
“We are thrilled to bring high quality LGBTQ+ films and programming to Arkansas,” said Kaleidoscope President Zack Baker. “"This festival is not only a celebration of queer storytelling but also a platform for fostering dialogue, connections, and amplifying underrepresented voices. We invite everyone to join us in this journey of discovery, empathy, and celebration.`
One of the festival's standout events is the Special Brunch screening of the beloved cult classic, "But I'm A Cheerleader." Held on August 13th, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious brunch spread catered by The Root Cafe while immersing themselves in this iconic film that explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and the power of love.
The festival's commitment to fostering dialogue and exploration extends to its thought-provoking panel discussions with filmmakers. Throughout the event, attendees will have the chance to engage with talented directors, actors, and industry experts, as they delve into the creative process, challenges, and triumphs of bringing LGBTQ+ stories to the screen. These insightful discussions aim to inspire, educate, and provide a platform for diverse voices within the industry.

About Kaleidoscope Film Festival
The Kaleidoscope LGBTQ+ Film Festival, produced by Kaleidoscope Arts and Culture, is an annual event dedicated to showcasing the diversity, creativity, and power of queer cinema. Through an inspiring lineup of films, panel discussions, and special events, the festival aims to celebrate LGBTQ+ voices, foster community, and promote inclusivity within the film industry.
At ACS, we believe that if we provide filmmakers an arena to exhibit their talents, and film enthusiasts a healthy diet of quality programming, we can inspire more Arkansans to make and watch more films. By supporting filmmakers, festivals, theaters and young people interested in filmmaking throughout the state, we hope to create statewide network, pool Arkansas’s resources and be an umbrella organization that feeds all things film. We believe a rising tide lifts all boats.
To be a filmmaker, we have to connect to create. A painter needs a brush, paint and a canvas. A director needs a writer, a cinematographer, a sound mixer, production designer, editor, actors, distributors, and an audience. We cannot do it alone. This art form forces one to collaborate and thus, creates jobs. Filmmaking is unique in the arts in this way. It takes an army.
